Iranian President Misses Interview After CNN Host Refuses to Cover Her Head
The presenter of the American television channel CNN said that the president Iran Ibrahim Raisi during a visit to New York refused to take part in the interview, as she was bareheaded. This is reported RIA News.
According to the journalist, preparations for a conversation with a politician took several weeks, and the equipment for filming took eight hours to set up, but the Iranian president decided not to come.
The girl said that Raisi’s assistant came and conveyed the request of the head of state to wear a headscarf in connection with the period of calendar months special for Muslims, mentioning the current situation in Iran.
“40 minutes after the interview was supposed to start, the assistant came. The President, he said, is suggesting that I wear a headscarf… I said that I could not agree to this unprecedented and unexpected condition… the interview did not take place,” the journalist wrote on Twitter, posting a photo in which she sits alone in front of an empty chair.
Earlier September 16 in Iran died a girl named Mahsa Amini, who was beaten for inappropriate appearance. She was detained by a special squad of police officers who monitor the observance of Sharia norms. After that, a series of protests organized by Iranian women began in the country.
