Nephew of ex-head of Kazakhstan Nazarbayev Satybaldyuly pleaded guilty in court
Nephew of the former President Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev Kairat Satybaldyuly pleaded guilty in the case of embezzlement on an especially large scale, reports Sputnik Kazakhstan.
He entered into mediation agreements with Kazakhtelecom JSC and Transport Service Center JSC, and also indemnified damages in the amount of 12 billion tenge and 28 billion tenge, respectively.
Prosecutor requested for Satybaldyuly six years in prison with confiscation of property and asked the court to ban him from holding certain positions for a period of ten years. In addition, the prosecution insists on depriving Nazarbayev’s nephew of the rank of major general of the national security agencies.
September 13 became known about the detention of Kairat Satybaldyuly. He was placed in a detention center on suspicion of embezzling funds from Kazakhtelecom, the largest telecommunications operator in Kazakhstan, as well as abuse of power.
