More than 3.3 million tons of vegetables harvested in Russia

The collection of seasonal vegetables continues in Russia. To date, the organized sector has already received 2.2 million tons of open ground products, which is 1.6% more than last year

Traditional leaders in the production of ground vegetables are Astrakhan, Volgograd, Moscow, Rostov, Saratov, Voronezh regions, Krasnodar and Stavropol regions, as well as the republics of the North Caucasus.

In addition, this year Russian farmers harvested 1.12 million tons of greenhouse vegetables (+8%). Including 654.2 thousand tons of cucumbers (+7.4%) and 451 thousand tons of tomatoes (+7.7%).

The top ten regions in this segment include Lipetsk, Moscow, Volgograd, Kaluga, Novosibirsk regions, Krasnodar and Stavropol regions, the republics of Karachay-Cherkessia, Tatarstan and Bashkortostan.

The development of greenhouse vegetable growing in Russia is actively supported by the state. Preferential investment opportunities are provided for industry enterprises loans and incentive subsidies. In addition, since this year, a mechanism has been in place to compensate for part of the costs of building greenhouse complexes in the regions of the Far East.
