World Table Tennis Team Championship in Chengdu, China will be held in a “bubble”

BEIJING.KAZINFORM – The World Table Tennis Team Championship in Chengdu (Sichuan Province, Southwestern China) will be held from September 30 to October 9 in the so-called “bubble” – “closed cycle system”, Kazinform correspondent reports with reference to the statement of the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF).

The three-time postponed team championship due to the coronavirus pandemic will be held in the administrative center of Sichuan province – the city of Chengdu. Due to the outbreak of coronavirus in this Chinese province, the finals in Chengdu will be held in the “closed loop system” successfully tested during the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.

Team Championship participants will be able to enter and exit Chengdu without quarantine, according to the ITTF. The organizers have created a limited space around the sports facilities, in which representatives of the participating countries can move around. The official hotels, where the sports delegations will be accommodated, are connected to the venue of the competition by special transport. Leaving the “bubble” is prohibited.

Teams will start arriving in Chengdu on Monday, September 26, according to the ITTF.

According to local media, the open sale of tickets for the final part of the team championship in Chengdu has been cancelled. The tournament will be held with the participation of a limited number of local spectators.

The list of the Chengdu-2022 table tennis team championship includes the men’s and women’s teams of Kazakhstan.
