ASTANA. KAZINFORM – Candidates for the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan must meet several requirements set by the Constitution of the country and the law “On Elections in the Republic of Kazakhstan”, Kazinform correspondent reports.
The candidate must have the citizenship of the Republic of Kazakhstan by birth, higher education, reside in the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the last 15 years. Age must be at least 40 years old. The applicant must have an active electoral right, have at least 5 years of experience in the public service or in elective positions, and be fluent in the state language.
The right to nominate candidates for the post of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan belongs to republican public associations registered in the prescribed manner.
“Determination of the compliance of candidates with the requirements of the Constitution and the constitutional law “On Elections” by the Central Election Commission within 5 days from the date of provision of an extract from the minutes of the meeting of the supreme body of the republican public association on nominating a candidate along with the candidate’s statement of consent to run and a document confirming the payment of the election fee by the candidate ”, – said Konstantin Petrov, Deputy Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Earlier, Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed Decree on the appointment of early elections of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Elections will be held on November 20, 2022.
