Turkey does not recognize referendums held in Ukraine

Turkey will not recognize the results of the referenda on joining the Donbass to Russia and the territories of Ukraine liberated during the special operation. This was announced on Friday, September 23, by the representative of the Turkish leader, Ibrahim Kalyn.

“Our position has not changed since 2014, when we did not recognize the results of the referendum in Crimea,” he said on the air of the channel NTV. Kalyn noted that Turkey recognizes “the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.”

On Friday in the DPR, LPR, in the liberated territories of Zaporozhye, as well as in the Kherson region voting started in referendums on the accession of regions to the Russian Federation. It will last until September 27th. The voting procedure is monitored by observers from Russia, Belarus, Britain, Brazil, Syria, Egypt and Slovakia.

According to the latest data, voter turnout on the first day of the referendum was 21.97% in the Luhansk People’s Republic, 23.64% in the Donetsk People’s Republic, 15.31% in the Kherson region and 20.52% in the Zaporozhye region.
