To see the beauty of the world: a photo exhibition of the circumnavigation of the Russian Geographical Society will be opened in Argentina

The world around us is beautiful and amazing, every day it reveals its new facets to us. You just need to learn to see its beauty even in the most ordinary things at first glance. The captain of the sailing trimaran of the round-the-world expedition of the Tomsk Branch of the Russian Geographical Society, Stanislav Beryozkin, will share his unexpected discoveries on distant wanderings with the inhabitants of Argentina. An exhibition of his photographs will be held at the Russian House in Buenos Aires.

The exposition of the exhibition “For the first time in Argentina” includes photographs taken during the expedition “On the way of Russian sailors around the world”. These are landscapes of various parts of the Earth that brave Russians had a chance to visit, as well as portraits of people who shared with them the joys and difficulties of an amazing voyage.

— This exhibition is part of the reportage shooting that I conduct during the expedition. Reporting is one of the most interesting and at the same time the most accessible genres, in which you can very quickly and accurately realize your vision of the world. The main thing is to look around and see. My camera is almost always with me. Interesting moments arise unexpectedly, and you have to be prepared, – admitted Stanislav Berezkin.

According to the circumnavigator from Novosibirsk, one of his goals is to show that the world is not as simple as it seems.

– That the world can be beautiful anywhere, you just need to find the moment. For example, color and shape, as in the frame with tango, symmetry in the frame with Vigo street. And I always try to show people from the best side, because it is easier to show from the worst. I love pretty graffiti. The landscape is much more complex. I am still learning how to shoot landscapes, so there are not very many of them in my collection. Usually, in order to find a good landscape shot that will convey colors and mood, you need to spend a lot of time in nature, and this is usually not enough on an expedition, Berezkin explained.

July 1, 2021 Siberian travelers Evgeny Kovalevsky and Stanislav Berezkin went along the route of the first Russian round-the-world expeditions of the 19th century: Ivan Krusenstern (1803–1806), Yuri Lisyansky (1803–1806), Otto Kotzebue (1815–1818, 1823–1826), Vasily Golovnin (1817–1819), Fyodor Litke (1826– 1829), Thaddeus Bellingshausen and Mikhail Lazarev (1819–1921). The international project of the Tomsk regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society “On the way of Russian sailors around the world” is dedicated to the 250th anniversary of the birth of Krusenstern and the 200th anniversary of the discovery of Antarctica by Russian sailors. These events for a long time determined Russia’s leadership in the development of the oceans and the discovery of new lands. You can learn more about the project and provide all possible assistance in its implementation. on the expedition website.

Visitors to the exhibition “For the first time in Argentina” at the Russian House in Buenos Aires will also see the documentary film “Swim across the ocean. The history of a real circumnavigation of the world. Part one. Zero meridian”, which tells about the expedition of the Russian Geographical Society. Tape premiere took place August 19 at the site of the V Festival of the Russian Geographical Society in Moscow’s Zaryadye park.

Now Stanislav Beryozkin and Evgeny Kovalevsky are preparing their trimaran for a new stage of circumnavigation. The Russians are waiting ordeal by the “fierce south”.
