ASTANA. KAZINFORM – A standard for accreditation of pedagogical universities is being developed. This was announced by the Minister of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askhat Aimagambetov during a briefing at the site of the Central Communications Service, Kazinform correspondent reports.
“Work is underway to prepare a standard for accreditation of pedagogical and other universities graduating future teachers. This is necessary to improve the quality of teacher training. Currently, accreditation of universities is carried out according to general criteria. It is planned that the developed standard for accreditation of pedagogical universities will continue to be used by independent accreditation agencies in the course of accreditation of educational programs of universities where future teachers are trained,” A. Aimagambetov said.
According to him, the Ministry is also completing work on the preparation and adoption of the professional standard “Teacher”. Taking into account this professional standard, educational programs, certification and attestation procedures for teachers, the content of continuous professional development will be developed and updated, and a strategy for the promotion of teaching staff will be built. Extensive discussions will be held with educators and other stakeholders prior to the approval of the occupational standard. As a result, the professional standard “Teacher” will become a single benchmark for the professional development of teachers at all levels of education.
