The norms of duty-free import of goods when crossing the border of the Republic of Kazakhstan are reduced from October 1

ASTANA. KAZINFORM From October 1, 2022, the duty-free import of goods intended for personal use of individuals will be reduced, Kazinform reports with reference to the press service of the State Revenue Department for the Mangistau region.

The temporary decision to increase the norm was valid from April 28, 2022.

“This means that from October 1, citizens crossing the land border will be able to import duty-free goods worth no more than 500 euros (currently 1,000) and weighing no more than 25 kg (currently 31 kg). If the specified limit is exceeded, a duty of 30% of the cost must be paid, but not less than 4 euros per 1 kilogram of excess. With regard to goods for personal use delivered by a carrier or sent in international mail to the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union, from October 1, 2022, the cost criteria for goods are reduced from 1,000 to 200 euros. At the same time, the weight threshold remains within the existing limits – up to 31 kg,” the ministry said.

As for the transport of cigarettes, the limit remains unchanged – 200 cigarettes, or 50 cigars (cigarillos), or 250 g of tobacco, or the specified products in the assortment with a total weight of not more than 250 g per individual over 18 years of age.

The rate of duty-free import of alcohol will also remain unchanged – 3 liters per individual over 18 years of age.
