ASTANA. KAZINFORM – If early elections in 2019 stood out 9 billion tenge, then this year it is planned to allocate 20.5 billion tenge from the budget. The increase in the amount of funds allocated for holding extraordinary elections of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan is associated with an increase in the minimum wage in the country, Kazinform correspondent reports.
Sabila Mustafina, a member of the Central Election Commission, said that 70,000 members of election commissions of all levels should be paid. The payroll fund is linked to the minimum wage. If in 2019 it was at the level of 42 thousand 500 tenge, then this year it amounted to 60 thousand tenge.
“The big jump in the budget for this election campaign is due to the payroll, which is 80% of the budget for any campaign. To date, we have submitted an approximate cost estimate for the election campaign to the Ministry of Finance, now we are discussing it in the amount of 20.5 billion tenge. We also requested a certain amount for the purchase of ballot boxes, which were raised at all our meetings in the regions, including in connection with the creation of new regions and new polling stations,” Sabila Mustafina explained.
Former Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a decree on the appointment of early elections of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Elections will be held on November 20.
