Switzerland does not recognize referendums on the entry of the DPR and LPR into Russia

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Switzerland reported that the country does not intend to recognize referendums on joining the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, as well as the Donetsk and Luhansk people’s republics (DNR and LNR), into the Russian Federation. A statement in this regard was made by the official representative of the Swiss Foreign Ministry, Pierre-Alain Elchinger.

About it informs agency “Prime” on Wednesday, September 21. “The referendums will violate the international legal principle of the territorial integrity of Ukraine. The results of such referendums will not be recognized by Switzerland,” he said.

The official representative of the Swiss Foreign Ministry added that the country’s authorities called on the Russian Federation to abandon further steps towards holding referendums.

Not only in Switzerland, but also in Germany, they declared that do not recognize referenda on the entry of the DPR and LPR, as well as the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions into the Russian Federation. They will be held from 23 to 27 September 2022. This was announced yesterday by the heads of regions. Representatives of the public councils and chambers of the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions have previously addressed them with a corresponding proposal.
