San Pedro Atocpan Mole Fair, where and how much will the ticket cost?

Lovers of Mexican food should prepare their stomachs as the San Pedro Atocpan Mole Fair approaches. The gastronomic event will take place from October 1 to 23, 2022, in San Pedro Atocpan, Milpa Alta, and an influx of at least 300 thousand people is expected.

Approximately 1,500 exhibitors, mole producers and local restaurateurs will participate in the fair, and the price of an average meal will be 150 pesos.

Where will the Mole Fair take place?

The National Mole Fair will once again take place at its location located at kilometer 17.5 of the Xochimilco-Oaxtepec federal highway, after being canceled for two years due to Covid-19. Mauricio Gutiérrez, president of the Organizing Committee, affirmed that this sector was greatly affected by said pandemic, for which all hygiene measures will be applied to guarantee the safety of the attendees.

Producers and restaurateurs will receive support to export

The mayor of Milpa Alta also said that mole producers and restaurant owners from San Pedro Atocpan who offer this national dish, they will receive facilities to be able to export it to other countries.

Before the Covid-19 pandemic, about Two thousand 500 families were dedicated to the elaboration of mole and each one of them produced 3.5 tons per year about; their supplies are purchased in the chinampas of Tláhuac and Xochimilcoand meat in the same town, so the economic benefit spreads to them.

The mayor’s office of Milpa Alta and the Natural Resources Commission (Corena) join forces to prepare mole producers and restaurateurs, so that they can pass the quality requirements set by the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris).

Also, there was already a meeting with them in the House of Culture of San Pedro Atocpan for that end.

“Cofepris, Corena and the mayor of Milpa are working on it, because we want to take mole producers to exhibitions, especially in the United States, we want to open more opportunities to producers, who have approached the mayor to guide them. ”, said the mayor.
