Igor Yushkov, a leading analyst at the National Energy Security Fund and an expert at the Financial University under the Government of Russia, said that Russia is already ready to implement the Power of Siberia-2 gas pipeline project. The main line will pass between the fields of Siberia and China.
According to the expert, there are no obstacles on the part of Russia to the implementation of the project. The discussed gas supplies to China through this pipeline are 50 billion cubic meters, writes “Radio 1” on Thursday, September 22.
“The Power of Siberia-2” is becoming even more relevant, because now it is necessary to put gas from West Siberian fields somewhere, and not just close them. Europe reduces the volume of deliveries. The Europeans say that in two or three years I will not take anything from Russia at all. Therefore, we are ready to supply more – not 50, but 100 and even 150 “cubes”. It all depends on China – on what conditions and at what price it is ready to buy gas from Russia,” the expert said.
At the same time, Igor Yushkov noted the rigidity of the position of the Chinese side. Beijing, according to the expert, is in no hurry, hoping to eventually get Russian gas at a lower price.
Earlier, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation confirmed that the final agreement on the Power of Siberia-2 gas pipeline expected soon.
