The panel section was conducted in the state language. Senator, journalist Nurtore Zhusip, president of the Chief Editors’ Club Bibigul Zheksenbay, editor-in-chief of the RTK “Qazaqstan” Bolat Mursalim discussed the topic of state policy and transformation in communications.

“The forum is dedicated to the issues of state and corporate communications, but we are more concerned with the issues of state communications, how the press services of ministries, departments, and national companies work today. Amendments to the law “On Mass Media” are expected. We will discuss what changes will be in the law, how it will affect the work of press secretaries, what needs to be done to make the interaction of journalists, press secretaries, bloggers more effective. We know that there are many challenges in public communications. This is connected both with geopolitical, external challenges for Kazakhstan, and with internal problems. Press services need to work more efficiently. They need not only to use new tools, but also to take a strategic approach to managing the reputation of ministries and departments,” said Asel Karaulova, president of the Kazakhstan Press Club and head of the National Association for Public Relations.

According to her, business companies are one step ahead in terms of communication. Therefore, the speaker believes that the state press services need to raise their level.

“We see problems related to responding to crisis situations, problems of interaction with the media, speakers, heads of departments are not always ready for dialogue, answering questions,” Assel Karaulova explained.

Therefore, in order for the press services to be able to respond in crisis situations, the Association has completed work on a manual on anti-crisis communications for government agencies. Some ministries have already received the grant.

As a result of today’s meeting, it is also expected to adopt a memorandum or recommendations, which will also be distributed to the press services.

“As an organization that has been developing the communications industry for over 20 years, we regularly advise on how to work better and more openly, professionally. Moreover, the forum materials will be in the public domain for everyone. There are not enough materials, after all, each national company and ministry has its own peculiarities of communication,” the speaker added.
