Ireland, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia came up with a proposal to disconnect four Russian banks from the international SWIFT system. On Friday, September 23, informed sources told.

How informs the Europa Press agency, the initiators of new restrictions on Russian financial institutions, insist on disconnecting Gazprombank, Alfa-Bank, Rosbank and Tinkoff Bank from SWIFT.

In addition, Ireland, Poland and the Baltic countries, when discussing the expansion of anti-Russian sanctions in the field of finance, advocated a ban on the provision of services to European clients by insurance companies from the Russian Federation.

Earlier it was reported that the next package of anti-Russian sanctions will be officially proposed for consideration after the meetings of European Commission officials with representatives of EU member states, which started on September 23. During the discussion of new restrictions, according to sources, some European countries advocated that even more Russian banks be disconnected from the SWIFT system.

The Russian authorities, meanwhile, are taking measures to protect the soundness of financial institutions. For these purposes, in 2022, 535 billion rubles have already been allocated. from the National Welfare Fund.
