Hungary does not intend to stop issuing Schengen visas to Russian citizens. This was announced on Friday, September 23, by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the country, Peter Szijjarto.
The head of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry clarified that we are talking about Schengen visas, including multiple ones. “The issue of visas is an issue within the framework of the Schengen agreements. Member countries have a procedure for how to do this,” said he is in a conversation with TASS.
Szijjarto noted that Budapest respects those who decide not to issue visas to Russian citizens, but Hungary does not make such a decision. “We will continue issuing visas to Russian citizens,” he concluded.
In Hungary, several times criticized on the sanctions policy of the European Union towards the Russian Federation. Thus, Szijjarto noted that Budapest does not intend to support anti-Russian sanctions if they contradict the national interests of the country.
