Finland is working on a complete ban on Russians from entering the country. This was announced by the Foreign Minister of this state, Pekka Haavisto.
The minister pointed out that Finland does not want to become a country that is used for travel on Schengen visas issued in other EU states. To close the borders to the Russians, the Finnish authorities will have to adjust the legislation, transmits Minister’s words to the local newspaper Iltalehti on Wednesday 21 September.
The Finnish Foreign Minister specified that the work to close the borders to Russian citizens had already begun. Experts from a number of ministries are engaged in it under the patronage of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On the eve of Finland also invited the European Union include in the scope of sanctions against the Russian Federation tourist visas. Since September 1, the authorities of this country have already significantly limited the possibility of obtaining a visa for Russians.
