The United States military will deliver a “crushing blow” to the entire Black Sea Fleet and bases located in Crimea if Russian President Vladimir Putin decides to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine. This was stated by the former commander of the US Army in Europe, retired Lieutenant General Ben Hodges.

Hodges specifically emphasized that he considers the scenario with the use of nuclear weapons by Russia to be extremely unlikely. However, the reaction of American leader Joe Biden to the use of any strategic weapon of mass destruction will be harsh and swift, informs Daily Mail on Thursday 22 September.

The ex-commander noted that Washington would not necessarily respond with a nuclear strike. The US could instead “destroy the Black Sea Fleet or destroy Russian bases in Crimea.”

On the eve of Russian President Putin said that the Russian Federation will use all available means to protect itself. The head of state also warned those who lead nuclear blackmail against Russia. “The wind rose can turn in their direction as well,” the President of the Russian Federation pointed out.
