Erdogan said that Medvedchuk, released from captivity, went to Russia

The head of the political council of the Opposition Platform – For Life party, Viktor Medvedchuk, who was released from Ukrainian captivity, was sent to Russia, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday, September 23.

“We have sent him to the Russian Federation. We are resolutely continuing the process,” he told reporters. Erdogan shook his head affirmatively at the remark of the Medvedchuk media representatives.

Interlocutor of RIA Novosti in the presidential administration of Turkey confirmedthat it was about Medvedchuk. He added that the process is under the control of the Turkish authorities, and the sending of prisoners of war will continue.

On the eve of the Turkish agency said that Russia and Ukraine exchanged prisoners of war, among whom was Viktor Medvedchuk. It was noted that Kyiv handed over to Moscow about 50 prisoners of war.

Medvedchuk was detained by special services on April 12. The Ukrainian authorities accuse him of pro-Russian views and lobbying for Moscow’s interests. He is involved in the case of subversive activities against Ukraine. In addition, he is credited with collecting information about the locations of Ukrainian troops, conducting combat training events, and also involving citizens in activities to destabilize the socio-political situation in Ukraine.
