ASTANA. KAZINFORM – The forthcoming presidential elections in Kazakhstan will unite Kazakhstanis and civil society around the idea of democratic transformation. Gulmira Tukanova, an expert of KazISS under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, shared this opinion, Kazinform correspondent reports.
“The upcoming presidential elections were initially dictated by the logic of the constitutional reform. The Constitution of the country was updated by almost a third, which was the beginning of the implementation of the political transformation of the country announced by the President. Therefore, early elections of the President, Parliament and maslikhats are necessary to restart these political institutions. On the other hand, the difficult geopolitical situation actualizes the request of the Kazakh society for a clear strategic vision of the development of our country. In this regard, the elections are of particular importance,” said the senior researcher of the KazISS under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
According to Gulmira Tukanova, the elections will unite Kazakhstanis and civil society around the idea of democratic transformation.
“For every adult citizen of Kazakhstan, elections are the realization of the right to participate in the formation of politics, as well as an opportunity to show an active civic position. Secondly, political associations and their leaders will have the opportunity on a national scale to present their vision of the country’s development, to discuss ideas and mechanisms to improve the lives of all Kazakhstanis. Active public associations can present non-standard concepts, new approaches and solutions,” the expert explained.
Gulmira Tukanova noted that right now the elections will help to consolidate the course for the democratic transformation of political institutions and procedures in the name of building a fair Kazakhstan.
“The main political institutions undergo their approbation through elections. Thus, the upcoming elections are not only a consistent implementation of political reforms, but also an opportunity to consolidate Kazakhstani society and renew the credibility of government institutions in these difficult historical times,” added Gulmira Tukanova.
