China says it will adhere to an objective position on the Ukrainian crisis

China intends to take an “objective and fair” stance on the conflict in Ukraine and promote peace and negotiations. The corresponding statement was made by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi during a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov.

The meeting was held on September 21 on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York, reported website of the Chinese Foreign Ministry. At it, the ministers, among other things, touched upon the Ukrainian topic. Wang Yi expressed hope that all parties would not give up dialogue and insist on resolving security issues through peaceful negotiations.

Also during the meeting, Wang Yi and Lavrov touched upon bilateral relations. The Chinese Foreign Minister said that Russia and China should deepen strategic interaction and promote high-quality pragmatic cooperation. In addition, according to the Chinese diplomat, the two countries should take an active part in global governance, jointly responding to modern challenges.

Former Chinese Foreign Minister called the root cause of the crisis in Ukraine. In his opinion, the fact that the European security system has lost balance has led to this. Therefore, according to the diplomat, it is necessary to rebuild a balanced, stable and efficient system that will comply with the principles of indivisible security.
