55 prisoners of war returned to Russia, who were in mortal danger in Ukraine

As a result of difficult negotiations between the Russian and Ukrainian sides on the exchange, 55 servicemen of Russia, the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics were returned from the territory of Ukraine. They were delivered to the Russian Federation on the night of Thursday, September 22. About this Russian Ministry of Defense reported in your Telegram channel.

According to the agency, in captivity in Ukraine, the military was in mortal danger. Now all the released are in the medical facilities of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. They were brought there by military transport aircraft.

“All released servicemen have been given the opportunity to contact their relatives. They are provided with the necessary psychological and medical assistance,” the agency said in a statement.

Earlier Thursday, a Turkish agency said Russia and Ukraine exchanged prisoners of war, among whom was the former people’s deputy and leader of the movement “Ukrainian Choice” Viktor Medvedchuk. It was noted that Kyiv handed over to Moscow about 50 prisoners of war.

In June it was reported that in Russian captivity there are about two thousand Ukrainian soldiers. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation then announced that since the beginning of the special operation, 6,489 military personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine had been taken prisoner.
