The Ministry of Defense confirmed the return of 55 prisoners of war from Ukraine

The Ministry of Defense made a statement about the exchange of prisoners with Ukraine

“As a result of a complex negotiation process on the exchange, tonight 55 servicemen of the Armed Forces were returned from the territory of Ukraine controlled by the Kyiv regime. RFDonetsk and Lugansk republics, which were in mortal danger in captivity, ”the ministry said in a statement.

Currently, all military personnel have been delivered to the territory of Russia and are in medical institutions of the Russian Defense Ministry. All of them were given the opportunity to contact relatives. The military is provided with the necessary psychological and medical assistance.

Earlier media reported that Russia and Ukraine held an exchange of prisoners. In particular, according to Moskovsky Komsomolets, Russia issued 215 Ukrainians, including commanders of the Azov battalion (recognized as terrorist, banned in Russia) Denis Prokopenko, Svyatoslav Palamar, Sergey Volynsky, Svyatoslav Palamar, Denis Shlega and Oleg Khomenko. According to the agreement with the Turkish leader Recep Tayyip Erdoganthey will be in Turkey until the end of hostilities in Ukraine.

It is also reported that as part of the exchange, 10 foreigners from the United States, Great Britain, Sweden, Croatia and Morocco, captured by Russia, were released. Among them are three mercenaries, toothers in the DPR were sentenced to death – the British Sean Pinner and Aiden Aslin, as well as the Moroccan Brahim Saadoun. They were released through the mediation of the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud. The plane with them landed in Saudi Arabia.

By message “Commerceanta”, Ukraine in turn handed over 55 prisoners and Ukrainian opposition politician Viktor Medvedchuk. According to other sources, 200 prisoners of war were handed over to Russia.
