Prisoners of war returned from Ukraine to Russia: what is known? – September 22, 2022

55 Russian servicemen were returned to Russia as a result of negotiations. This was announced on September 22 by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

“As a result of a complex negotiation process on the exchange, 55 servicemen of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, the Donetsk and Lugansk republics, who were in mortal danger, were returned from the territory of Ukraine controlled by the Kyiv regime tonight,” the report says.

The agency clarifies that the released men were taken by plane to the territory of Russia. Now they are in medical institutions, where they receive medical and psychological assistance. It is clarified that the military personnel are given the opportunity to contact relatives.

On the eve of the newspaper “Kommersant” reportedthat an exchange of prisoners of war between the Russian Federation and Ukraine took place. “Ukrainian opposition politician Viktor Medvedchuk was handed over to Russia,” the publication states.
