Russian citizens who own property in Finland have retained the right to enter the country, but in the short term this “loophole” will also be closed, Finnish Foreign Minister Pekka Haavisto said on September 23 in an interview with Iltalehti.
In addition to property owners, Russians will be allowed into the country only to visit relativesfor family reasons, for study or work.
The entry of Russians into Finland for tourism purposes will be blocked, and the issuance of visas will be limited. As stated in the government of the state, it was necessary to make a “fundamental decision” on significant restrictions on the Russians on the basis of “serious damage” to the international position of Finland. Terms will come into effect in the coming daysbut the solution is still being finalized.
