According to Borrell, initially the EU foreign ministers planned to hold a meeting on September 26, but because of Putin’s speech, he decided to gather everyone earlier, on September 21. The head of European diplomacy specified that he intends to discuss with the foreign ministers of European countries the provision of military support to Ukraine and new sanctions against the Russian Federation.
At the same time, Borrell noted that the European Union is helping Kyiv, but does not intend to interfere in the conflict with Russia.
“We are not involved in the war. It is one thing to provide military support, another to get involved in a war. This is not and will not happen,” he added.
Also, according to Borrell, there will be a meeting on Thursday United Nations Security Council. Its main topic will be the “new scenario” in Ukraine against the backdrop of Putin’s statement about holding referendums in the LPR, DPR, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, partial mobilization in the Russian Federation and the possibility of using nuclear weapons.
